In 2023, life will be rosy. At least in movie theaters, where Margot Robbie’s Barbie will be released. The Australian produces and stars in the movie, taking the role of the famous blonde doll, and in which Ryan Gosling dyes his hair platinum blonde to give life to Ken.
The director of ‘Barbie’ will be none other than Greta Gerwig, one of the most interesting and controversial voices in cinema today. The director of ‘Lady Bird’ and ‘Little Women’ has also scripted films as important to understanding the 21st century as ‘Frances Ha’.
But Gerwig is also accompanied in the script by her husband, Noah Baumbach, who in addition to directing iconic works such as ‘Frances Ha’ or ‘A Marriage Story’, has scripted ‘The Fantastic Mr. Fox’ or ‘The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou’.

Plot of Barbie’s movie:
A Barbie doll is kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough, which is why she then embarks on an adventure in the real world along with Ken (Ryan Gosling) a “complete doofus” who falls in love with Barbie but loves the real world for all the reasons Barbie hates it (beauty standards, sexism, etc).
Finally, Mattel’s CEO (Will Ferrell) goes after the duo to bring them back to Barbieland.
“It comes with a lot of accessories! And lots of nostalgic connections. With that there are also a lot of ways to approach the story. People hear Barbie and think they know what the movie is going to be. Then they hear that it’s Greta Gerwig writing and directing and that’s when they think it’s still not going to be what it might seem at first,” expresed Margot.
“Right in the beginning, we had a sleepover for the Barbies, which would involve playing games with Scott [Evans] and Ncuti [Gatwa],” she added.
