All the details you need to know about Jacquemus’ Spring 2023 RTW
Jacquemus Spring 2023 show welcomed humongous hats, giant earrings and more in style.
The last fashion show of this year was wrapped up by Jacquemus, and it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it summed up the year well.
On December 12, the brand unveiled its latest Spring 2023 ready-to-wear collection at “Le Bourget”, just outside Paris.
Titled “Le Raphia”, the French fashion label welcomed humongous hats, giant daisy earrings, and cut-outs in style and grace. Even in the Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Jacquemus’ miniature logo bag has caught all eyes.
Twenty-four hours before the runway show, creative director Simon Porte Jacquemos announced on his Instagram stories that this would be his last runway show (as a joke), “Dear everyone, tomorrow’s show will be my last… of the year.” We almost had a heart attack… let’s breathe in and breath out… everything is ok.
With this RTW Spring 2023 menswear and womenswear collection, the brand wanted to pay homage to the past and the present. Simon introduced new pieces with the brand’s backstory in mind: “I didn’t want to tell another story about myself. We wanted to reference our own history; the way the Maison would,” Simon Porte said. “The idea of something so summery, and almost making fun of ourselves with the hats too big, we wanted something super elegant.” He added.
The “girls you imagine in Portofino and Capri, going around with their hats and their earrings and their polka dot pants” were also the elements that inspired the creative designer.
The 54-piece collection moved from blues, and pastels to cheerful beiges, yellows, and reds. As it is already known, the earth tones of the ready-to-wear collection are a signature element of Jacquemus’ looks, with natural colours and textures, as well as his signature oversized hats and small bags.
Simon Porte also said, “It’s the end of the summer. All these colours, all the dreams I saw, that I had, are gone. The smell, the beauty, Raphia’s rain sweeps it all away as in a dream… Will I see those big hats again, those buckets of flowers, those prints? I think so.”
The runway show brought together plenty of celebrities and influencers, including Blackpink singer Jennie, actors Pamela Anderson, Vincent Cassel, Sophie Marceau and reality TV personality Christine Quinn. They wore incredible designs from the current collection, while others wore designs from the one Simon Porte showed in June. “They often go more viral than the runway show,” he said. “It’s different, dressing real people who aren’t models. I love it. People can relate.”
Other stars attended the off-schedule show, including Drag Race winner Symone, Richie Shazam and Emma Chamberlain. Actors Manu Rios and Aron Piper, designers Amina Muaddi, Ludovic de Saint Sernin and Daniel Roseberry also were in attendance.
During the runway show, we saw a variety of stunning pieces. Model Vittoria Ceretti walked the runway in the iconic braided knit micro dress. There were also baggy jeans washed with metallic silver paint, mini-shorts, swimsuits, sheer ensembles with floral appliqués, knitwear, casual tees, shaggy coats and much more.
As for accessories, we could see the micro Chiquito bag, oversize raffia sunflower earrings and giant daisies, hay hats and raffia hats. Bird-like coats and crop tops were also protagonists of the models’ fashion show. There were also polka-dot pedals paired with colossal white collars reminiscent of their early days and an emphasis on denim to get back to earth.
The shoe line was varied, including clogs and strappy stiletto heels, while pointy toes had a circle and square implanted in each toe, the brand’s invention.
